BADWINDS AKA Jonathan Nelson creates original artworks of Diné life and culture. BADWINDS is creating an authentic portrayal of Indigenous life to decimate stereotypes of Native American cultures.
BADWINDS works as an illustrator, graphic artist, and fine artist. His recent picture book is also his first, First Laugh – Welcome, Baby, was released in August 2018. He balances logo and identity design with figurative drawings and paintings. His subject matter includes a blend of Diné culture, Star Wars, and the southwest desert landscape with a style influenced by comic books, street art, and graphic design.
BADWINDS has showcased at SWAIA Indian Market, Heard Museum & Heard Museum’s Indian Art Fair, Form & Concept, Self Help Graphics & Art, The Sagrado, Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Raices Taller 222, Pop Gallery, and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
